Description

The GE L8-18i-D Ultrasound Probe is a high-frequency linear array transducer designed to provide exceptional resolution for superficial imaging, small parts, vascular, musculoskeletal, pediatric, and intraoperative applications. Featuring a compact footprint and a broad 5–18 MHz frequency range, the L8-18i-D delivers the detailed near-field visualization required for evaluating small and superficial anatomical structures.

Designed for use with compatible GE ultrasound systems, the GE L8-18i-D transducer combines high-frequency imaging performance with a compact 11 x 35 mm footprint and 25 mm field of view. This specialized design makes the probe particularly useful when scanning small anatomical structures or areas where access with a traditional linear transducer may be difficult.

High-Frequency Imaging & Exceptional Detail

The GE L8-18i-D is engineered for applications where excellent spatial resolution and visualization of superficial anatomy are essential. Its high-frequency imaging capabilities provide detailed visualization of soft tissue, vessels, tendons, muscles, nerves, and other small anatomical structures.

The combination of high-frequency performance and a small scanning footprint makes the L8-18i-D linear ultrasound probe an excellent choice for advanced musculoskeletal imaging, small parts examinations, peripheral vascular studies, pediatric imaging, and specialized intraoperative applications.

Key Features of the GE L8-18i-D

  • High-frequency linear array ultrasound transducer
  • Broad 5–18 MHz frequency range
  • Compact 11 x 35 mm transducer footprint
  • 25 mm field of view
  • Excellent near-field and superficial image resolution
  • Designed for small and difficult-to-access anatomical areas
  • Advanced vascular imaging capabilities
  • High-resolution musculoskeletal imaging
  • Supports pediatric and neonatal imaging applications
  • Designed for intraoperative vascular imaging
  • Supports tissue biopsy applications
  • Compatible with select GE LOGIQ, Vivid, and Voluson ultrasound systems

Clinical Applications

The GE L8-18i-D ultrasound transducer is designed for a variety of high-resolution imaging applications, including:

  • Musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound
  • Superficial musculoskeletal imaging
  • Peripheral vascular imaging
  • Small parts ultrasound
  • Thyroid imaging
  • Breast imaging
  • Testicular imaging
  • Pediatric ultrasound
  • Neonatal cephalic imaging
  • Intraoperative vascular imaging
  • Tissue biopsy applications

Its high-frequency capabilities make the L8-18i-D particularly valuable when detailed visualization of superficial structures is more important than the deep penetration required for abdominal or general-purpose imaging.

Compact Design for Specialized Imaging

One of the major advantages of the GE L8-18i-D probe is its compact footprint. At approximately 11 x 35 mm with a 25 mm field of view, the transducer can access anatomical areas that may be difficult to evaluate using a larger conventional linear probe.

This combination of a small footprint and high-frequency imaging makes the L8-18i-D especially useful for small joints, superficial tendons and ligaments, peripheral vessels, neonatal imaging, and other specialized examinations requiring exceptional near-field detail.

GE L8-18i-D Compatible Ultrasound Systems
